How to Ripen Mangoes at Home: The Traditional Konkan Method

If your Pure Aam box arrives and the fruit feels firm, that's good news! It means they are fresh off the tree. Here is how to finish the ripening process perfectly.

The Newspaper Wrap

Wrap each mango individually in a single sheet of dry newspaper. This traps the natural ethylene gas emitted by the fruit without letting moisture build up.

The Dark Corner

Place the wrapped mangoes in a cardboard box or a dark corner of your kitchen. Do not put them in a plastic bag or a closed container—they need to breathe.

The Smell Test

After 24–48 hours, you will start to smell that incredible Alphonso aroma through the paper. Once the fruit yields slightly to a gentle thumb press, it is ready. Refrigerate only AFTER this stage.
